Description

Scalable 12-Phase SVI3 Multiphase Control for High-Performance Computing

The RS19C22 is a dual-rail, scalable multiphase buck controller designed for high-current processor, accelerator, graphics, server, and telecom power applications. Supporting up to 12 total phases across two output rails, the RS19C22 provides flexible phase configurations from 12+0 to 8+4, enabling a common controller platform to address a wide range of high-density power requirements.

With a 4.5V to 16V input range and 0.2V to 2.8V output range, the RS19C22 combines high-accuracy regulation, advanced transient control, comprehensive telemetry, and programmable protection in a compact 6mm × 6mm, 48-pin QFN package.

Native TLVR Support for Fast Transient Response

The RS19C22 provides native Trans-Inductor Voltage Regulator (TLVR) support without requiring additional external passive components. Combined with programmable DC load-line control and overshoot and undershoot reduction, TLVR support enables fast response to the large, rapid load transients encountered in modern CPUs, GPUs, ASICs, and AI accelerators while helping reduce required output capacitance.

AMD SVI3 and PMBus Digital Power Management

An AMD SVI3-compliant interface supports dynamic voltage control for high-performance processor applications, while the PMBus™ v1.4.1 interface provides system-level configuration, telemetry, monitoring, and fault management.

Multiple-Time Programmability (MTP) allows configuration parameters to be stored for field customization, while integrated black-box fault-event recording provides valuable diagnostic information for system development and troubleshooting.

Intelligent Phase Management and High-Efficiency Operation

Programmable automatic phase add/drop dynamically adjusts the number of active phases according to load conditions to improve efficiency across the operating range. Per-phase current balancing, thermal balance management, and flexible phase-order assignment further optimize power-stage utilization and system performance.

With switching frequencies up to 4MHz, the RS19C22 can also support smaller external passive components for compact, high-power-density voltage regulator designs.

High-Accuracy Telemetry and Comprehensive Protection

Integrated telemetry provides monitoring of input voltage, output voltage, output current, and temperature. Differential output sensing provides ±0.5% output-voltage accuracy, while voltage and current telemetry provide accuracy as tight as ±1.5% and temperature telemetry provides ±2°C accuracy.

Integrated protection includes input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output undervoltage and overvoltage protection (UVP/OVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), overtemperature protection (OTP), and cycle-by-cycle per-phase current limiting. Programmable fault responses allow the controller to be optimized for system protection requirements.

Optimized for Reed Smart Power Stages and Smart Power Blocks

The RS19C22 is designed to pair with Reed Semiconductor smart power stages and smart power blocks, providing a scalable controller-to-power-stage platform for high-current multiphase solutions. This combination enables compact power architectures with advanced digital control, high-frequency operation, optimized transient response, and flexible phase scalability.
